Wide-tooth comb

Definition

  1. A wide-tooth comb has widely spaced teeth that work through knots with less tugging than a fine comb or a brush. The American Academy of Dermatology advises it for detangling wet hair, and for textured or tightly curled hair it advises combing while the hair is damp. Start at the ends and work upward, holding the hair above each knot. Choose a comb with smooth, rounded teeth and no rough seams, because a rough edge can snag strands.
