Twist-out

Definition

  1. A twist-out is defined, stretched texture made by unraveling twisted sections of hair once they are completely dry. It is a common way to stretch and define coils and curls without heat. Twist damp, well-moisturized hair, keep the sections even, and make sure each twist is completely dry before you open it. Smaller twists give tighter definition and larger ones give fuller, looser curls. Expect some shrinkage as the hair springs back. See also: Braid-out, Bantu knots, Shrinkage, Leave-in conditioner.
